Flashbackz Privacy Policy

Last updated August 12, 2026

Flashbackz analyzes your personal photo library locally, on your iPhone. Your personal photos are not uploaded to a Flashbackz photo-processing backend.

Flashbackz is a memory game built from your own camera roll, so the whole app depends on reading your photos. This policy explains what it accesses, what stays on your device, and the one part of the app that involves a third party — advertising.

Information Flashbackz accesses

After you grant permission, Flashbackz may access your iOS photo library. While building and running the game, the app may work with the following on your device:

  • image content;
  • photo timestamps;
  • photo-library metadata;
  • image classifications generated locally;
  • scores generated locally to judge whether a photo suits gameplay;
  • timing and grouping information used to vary memories and reduce repetition.

Not all of this is kept. Some of it exists only for as long as the app needs it to choose the next memory.

On-device analysis

Flashbackz evaluates possible memories using local, on-device processing, including analysis built on Apple's Vision framework.

  • Photo analysis happens on your device.
  • Your personal photos are not sent to a Flashbackz server for image analysis.
  • Flashbackz does not operate a remote photo library containing your camera roll.

Accounts

Flashbackz does not require an account. There is no Flashbackz profile or backend account tied to the camera-roll game.

Data stored on your device

Flashbackz keeps some information locally so the app works and stays fast, such as:

  • prepared-memory and cache state;
  • gameplay state;
  • streak and statistics information;
  • results of local analysis, so expensive work does not have to be repeated.

Removing the app from your iPhone removes this local app data with it.

Advertising

Flashbackz shows ads using Google AdMob.

Advertising is kept separate from your photos. Google does not receive your camera-roll photos through Flashbackz. Google may process information connected with delivering ads in line with its own privacy practices.

The intended approach for Flashbackz is non-personalized advertising, rather than building behavioral advertising around your personal photos.

No sale of your photos

Flashbackz does not sell your personal photos.

Children

Flashbackz is a general-audience game and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new last-updated date.
