Flashbackz
Flashbackz Support
Flashbackz is an iPhone memory game that uses your own photo library to create Before/After chronology challenges. This page covers the questions that come up most often.
Getting started
- Grant Flashbackz access to your photo library.
- Let the app prepare a playable pool of memories on your iPhone.
- Press Play.
- Compare the Previous Memory with the New Memory.
- Choose BEFORE or AFTER.
- Keep answering correctly to extend your streak.
Photo access
Flashbackz needs access to your photo library, because your photos are the game. Without access there is nothing to play with.
If you denied access, or granted it for only a limited selection of photos, you can review the Photos permission for Flashbackz in the iOS Settings app and change it there.
Preparing memories
The first run can take a little while on a large library. Flashbackz analyzes your photos on your iPhone to work out which ones make good memories, and a library with tens of thousands of photos simply takes longer to work through.
That analysis happens on the device. Your photos are not uploaded to Flashbackz while it happens.
When a weak photo shows up
Flashbackz tries to leave out material that does not play well: screenshots, documents, saved graphics, photos of screens, and other frames with little personal context. No automated selection is perfect, so an occasional dull photo will still make it into a game.
If that happens, it does not mean the photo was uploaded anywhere or reviewed by a person. The selection ran locally and simply got that one wrong.
Ads
Flashbackz may show an ad between completed games.
Privacy
Flashbackz analyzes your photos on your iPhone rather than on a server. The Flashbackz Privacy Policy explains what the app accesses and what it does with it.
