HowManyBeers Support

HowManyBeers is built around one small loop: Open → Snap Beer → Confirm → +1. This page covers the questions that come up most often.

Logging a beer

  1. Open the camera from inside the app.
  2. Take a fresh photo of the beer.
  3. Review the suggested beer, or choose the right one.
  4. Confirm the log.

The app is designed around fresh in-app camera captures rather than importing photos from your gallery.

Beer recognition

Recognition is intentionally permissive. A packaged beer can often be recognized from the label text visible in the photo. An unlabeled pint or glass usually cannot be identified with any certainty, so the app lets you confirm or pick the beer instead of pretending it knows exactly what is in the glass.

Recognition is there to help you log faster, not to prove what you are drinking, so expect it to be right often rather than always.

Camera access

Camera permission is required to create a new beer log. If access was denied, you can review the camera permission for HowManyBeers in the iOS Settings app and change it there.

Account and profile

HowManyBeers includes an account and profile, along with social features. Profiles are private by default.

Depending on what you use, those features may include:

  • your beer history;
  • friend and group activity;
  • group statistics;
  • achievements;
  • reporting, blocking and moderation tools.

Age requirement

HowManyBeers is intended for people aged 21 and older. Age verification is part of setting up an account.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account using the account-deletion option in the app. If you cannot get into your account to do that, email support and it can be handled for you.

Privacy

The HowManyBeers Privacy Policy explains what the app stores, what stays on your device, and what is kept in the backend.
